Archives for the month of: February, 2011

My father is a kind, gentle, caring, patient and loving man and tonight we had a reason to celebrate him, his birthday. My family all enjoyed yummy dinner followed by a homemade cake made by my mom and some ice cream. We all watched The Bachelor, you know you have a good dad when he watches that show on his birthday. Dad, I love you very much and I am so thankful for such an incredible dad. I hope this next year is even better than the last!

Tonight I pulled out a basket and shot some photos with my new fringe blanket I made. Since we finished it at midnight last night, I grabbed a quick shot with my camera phone and then went to sleep. I was eager to try it out tonight in one of the ways I intend to use it for a photo session. I love the colors and the textures and I am still so happy with it. I look forward to when I finally have a newborn session and am able to use this as I think it will really give some more depth and texture.

Last night I finished my first fringe blanket. It took me 7 hours to attach the tassels alone, but I am so happy with it that I feel it was worth all of the work.

I started my new prop project last night and I decided to do a quick photo. However, the flash on my camera is super bright and it’s so hard to get a good photo because of this when the room is on the dark side for a photo. This is definitely not the best photo, but it was about the best I was going to get without a lot of time spent on perfecting a camera phone shot and I wasn’t in the mood. The yarn is black so that made things a tad bit more complicated.

We were out getting some supplies for a new prop project I am working on. My hubby found some bunny ears and put them on my son while I wasn’t looking. When I turned around, the baby had the biggest grin on his face and I couldn’t help but laugh and then ooh and aah over how cute he was. At that point, he was over the ears. I don’t know when I’ll learn to contain myself with his cuteness as when I get all mushy, it’s over. I’m glad I was able to capture one quick shot at least.

Tonight my son decided that I was taking for too long to feed him for his liking. He took it upon himself to feed himself his dinner. It was pasta shells with spaghetti sauce and he sure made a mess. However, he was so adorable with his messy face and hands that I couldn’t help but laugh at him. He looked so proud that he had fed himself the whole bowl of food that I just had to capture some photos. There is not a day that goes by that my little one doesn’t do something that makes me bust up laughing or make me grin from ear to ear. He is such a character and I thank God every day that he is in our lives.

This was my photo from last night. This is a saying that is on the doors over our bedroom door. It was there when we moved in and I liked it so much that I told the landlords it was fine to leave it up. I use it to remind myself to never go to bed angry with my husband. Things are still stressful with my hubby’s work still being slow, but when I read this saying, I take a deep breath and remind myself of how much I love my husband. Last week he was out of town for the whole week for work and that was fairly hard as it was the longest we have been away from each other since we first met almost 3 years ago. I am now so grateful that every night I am able to go to bed with him as he is my own personal heater. I remind myself that our money woes are only temporary and that there are many people out there who are worse off than us. I just think of how thankful I am to have him to go through this with and that I am so grateful for our son and how much I love and adore both my husband and son. I will take my incredible family any day over a lot of money.

My parents next door neighbors have the cutest tiny flowers that are sprouting up all over their lawn and flower bed. Every time I go over I mean to grab a photo and keep forgetting. Today while I was over visiting, I pulled out my camera and attempted to grab a photo. This flower is about the size of my fingernail in real life. This photo makes it look so much larger than it is. I love that I can see the texture in both the petals and in the pollen by using the macro technique. I am really loving the macro and now that is on my list of items to buy, right after a higher quality camera. Sigh, my list of wants will never end. In the meantime, I will make do with what I have and keep developing my skills.

This was my photo taken yesterday which I am late posting on my blog yet again. I post all of my photos daily on facebook, so I still am fulfilling my goal of shooting and posting a ¬†picture a day. When I take photos with my camera phone, it’s hard for me to get uploaded on here, which is why there is normally a delay. Yesterday the skies were so beautiful, nice and blue with super puffy clouds and I couldn’t resist taking a picture. This photo was taken with my camera phone and I actually am quite proud of the quality. I upgraded to an Evo from a blackberry and whenever I get photos I like from my camera phone, I am always reminded of how great it was that I did the upgrade.

I absolutely loved the Amelia Bedelia books when I was in grade school. Tonight while shopping at Costco, I stumbled across a large book of a few Amelia Bedelia books. It even had a CD of what appears to be the books on tape, which would be perfect so I can listen while at work. I was so tempted to buy this but since my son is only 14 months and really wants nothing to do with books, I decided to hold off. I am thinking of going back and buying this book anyways so I can read these to my son when he is older, or just to enjoy myself. Either way, it is so nice to see some of my favorite things as a child making a comeback. The illustrations are so fun and the story itself is always humorous.
